Quinn’s personal journey of recovery and experience within the treatment industry has lead him to a life long commitment to helping individuals and families toward their own path to recovery. His background includes counseling, family intervention work, operation management, marketing and business development both locally and nationally. He is deeply embedded in his local community and has a mission to bridge the gap between treatment and lasting recovery.
Joe comes to the Golden Gate Recovery team with over 5 of years of experience working in the behavioral health field. Upon graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology from University of Oregon, Joe began working as a Mentor and Life Coach for Dragonfly Transitions in southern Oregon. He has worked in operations management with sober living environments, has experience working as a clinician and administrator in substance abuse treatment programs, and has a background doing marketing and business development as well. Joe’s own journey through recovery was assisted by the men and women who worked in substance abuse counseling and he believes fully in the foundation-building of recovery that occurs in strong aftercare treatment programs.
Joe believes it is imperative to understand one’s pain in order to understand one’s addiction. Joe spent 10 years living away from northern California and returned in August of 2017 excited to improve the quality of people’s lives he met here. He is excited to work along the Golden Gate Recovery team and believes he can help men achieve their higher purpose here!
Angela Hopper is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience within addiction treatment working in a wide variety of clinical settings. Angela’s career has been exclusively focused on the treatment of Substance Use, Co-Occurring Disorders, trauma and family systems in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Dominican University of California, and has excelled in leading many highly skilled clinical teams throughout Northern California over her long career.
Her work addresses the individual holistically with focuses on biological, psychological/emotional, spiritual and social/cultural needs, as well as core issues and challenges that occur within various systems in an individual’s life. She has served on the Board of Directors Marin County Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and was awarded the 2012 CAMFT Outstanding Leadership award for her work as a Licensed MCAMFT board member. She has been interviewed on the radio and featured on the NBC Nightly News and has been published in recovery books highlighting her experience and success. Angela is passionately dedicated to helping those in recovery from Substance Use Disorders and other mental health issues. She believes in the fundamental resilience of individuals and families who dedicate themselves to the process of recovery.
Dr. Small’s professional experience encompasses General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Family Medicine. As the founder of Headlands Addiction Treatment Services, Dr. Small and his team have become leaders in the delivery of addiction medicine and psychiatry to treatment programs throughout California and beyond. These compassionate services are reliable, responsive, personable, and evidenced based. Most of the team providers carry multiple board certifications in psychiatry, addiction medicine and family medicine. They recruit the best and brightest addiction medicine professionals to deliver the highest level of treatment.

Dr. Small is uniquely qualified to treat both medical and mental health conditions. He completed his medical and psychiatric training at UCSD. He holds Board Certification by the American Boards of Psychiatry, Preventative Medicine (Addictions) and Family Medicine. He personally trains and mentors the best mental health providers in the treatment industry.
Prior to Addiction Counseling, Carrie spent many years as Early Childhood Educator, then attained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at Sonoma State. After working in the addiction field for a few years, she decided to pursue counseling and has been doing so ever since. Carrie is well versed in 12-step, has a decade of active recovery, and has extensive experience working with this population through individual counseling, case management, family work and group facilitation.
Aidan comes to Golden Gate Recovery with six years of experience working in the addiction field, specializing in men’s recovery programming. Aidan began his own personal journey in Southern California in 2014, and the long-term aftercare program he participated in was so instrumental in his life that he decided to further his own education in addiction counseling. Aidan has worked on both operational and clinical side of treatment starting as a peer support technician and operations now working as a counselor for over three years. Aidan holds a CADC-III and is continuing his higher education in pursuit of a bachelors in industrial psychology. Aidan intends to continue to provide personalized and effective counseling to all clients in his contact by integrating his own personal experience, higher education, and 12-step framework into one approach.
Rick comes to Golden Gate recovery with years of experience working with addicts and alcoholics, and he brings an unparalleled working knowledge of recovery to our community. He goes the extra mile every single day for each family he works with and he sets an amazing example for our clients who are working hard every day to work toward a better way of living.
Keith’s personal journey of recovery inspired him to work in the treatment industry, where he found his passion for human services and helping individuals battling with addiction. His background includes 3 years of experience in crisis intervention, operation management, counseling and group counseling. He is grateful to work with the clinical team in helping these men find a new way to live.
Eli has years of experience working in treatment settings and brings his enthusiasm for his own recovery every single day. His background includes individualized case management, group facilitation, operational oversight and much more. Eli is also a marine combat veteran with two tours of duty in Afghanistan, allowing him to offer another unique perspective. His gregarious personality is infectious and the community is lucky to have him.
Dave has been working on the front lines of substance abuse and mental health care for the last 5 years here in Northern California, diligently helping clients and families to their path of recovery. He is a Certified Arise Interventionist and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, he has worked in medical detox settings, co-owns a local sober living company and specializes in working with entire family systems for long durations of time. The love he has for the work that he does has a profound effect on the clients that he works with and is a true leader and man of integrity within the local recovery community.
Myles joins Golden Gate Recovery after working for over four years in the Sober Living and Addiction Treatment space. After finding a new life in recovery Myles found a passion in helping others find the freedom that comes with a new way of living. He strongly believes in the value of structure and learning how to live a happy and principled life that treatment and aftercare provides. Myles’ background includes overseeing operations teams, and he goes above and beyond on a regular basis to ensure that each individual in our care has what they need.
David is a bodyworker specializing in breathwork and somatic trauma release. He has a passion for empowering people through education in self-regulation skills. With a diverse background in computer engineering (MIT), music (Stanford), and embodiment arts (20+ years), he uses a practical science-based approach to demystify esoterica and make cutting-edge tools accessible and fun. David is also an inventor and innovator, playfully bridging art and science for healing and self-awareness amplification. His private practice in Sebastopol can be found at goes here
